We have long been of the view that professional Financial Planners should be highly qualified, more in line with the requirements of the legal and accountancy professions. Many advisers argue that experience is the key, but we feel we owe it to our clients to have as much knowledge and expertise as possible in addition to many years' experience. We believe we can truly say that we deliver a first class service.
The most usual basic qualification held by authorised financial advisers is the Certificate in Financial Planning (CertPFS),at QCA level 3 in the National Qualifications Framework. These advisers can call themselves 'fully qualified" but it is acknowledged by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) that this is no longer adequate. it is proposed that all advisers will progress to at least QCA level 4 by the end of 2012.
